Step One- Education

As well as,, how long and how often it needs to be done.
Studying is how we expand our mind and learn things that are passed down to us by the teachers, who have done it before us. Studying is an important discipline at any stage in life, No matter if you are 10, 30 or 70 years of age.

Step Two- Practice
Some people tend to do things in life first (and then learn about it later).
Some people want to learn about things first before they start doing them.
Regardless of whichever type describes you best, And no matter how eager you are to get started. We highly encourage not to skip the step 1 in this process.
Knowing how to meditate, contemplate or do the Prayer of Quiet requires some initial knowledge of basic fundamentals.
Because of the very subjective (personal) nature of the contemplative practices. Many people who meditate, do so without fundamental knowledge and they often find themselves dabbling in it for years on end and later losing interest in it, because they fail to make progress with it,
They might even fail to comprehend what progress is and looks like..
And since, meditation is a very lonesome, completely personal experience. it is important to get some basic external guidance on it. So you know what to look out for and what to work on, if you wish to make progress.
That is why Step 1 is very important. It will provide foundational understanding of elements, techniques and goals of meditation, which you can put into practice.
In turn it will yield you results in the multiples in your practice.
