What is The Prayer Of Quiet

WHAT IS PRAYER OF QUIET?

The Prayer of Quiet is a high state of concentration, achieved through practice and determination. Referred to as Samadhi is sanskrit language. It produces major shift in consciousness and expanded awareness of all experiences.

Prayer Of Quiet is a Christian term for Samadhi, Prayer of Quiet was coined by Teresa Avila in 16th century. She referred to it as a silent prayer where you recollect your mind and reconnect with God in a better way.

Why is it important?

Spiritual traditions all over the world are built from 3 basic blocks:

1. Spiritual Text (Bible, Koran, Torah, Bhagavad Gita, etc)
2. Concentration(Focus, attention, honing in)
3. Equilibrium (Equanimity)

Buddhist traditions in their practice mainly focus on the last two: Concentration and Equanimity. Hence the endless meditative practices that help you improve both.

-Focus aspect allows you to identify your inner(and outer) experiences better by focusing on them.
-Equanimity aspect teaches you to endure uncomfortable sensations.

These explanations are basic generalizations and may not be completely described in words. We encourage to start practicing these skills for yourself and experience it personally.
